Up close look at the north gate Old Dali city wall lookout tower


The north gate tower appears to be used for storage of local paintings, marble and woodcraft

After leaving the lookout tower, we proceeded to walk along the Old Dali city wall with a view of Cangshan Mountains and Lone Pagoda

An earthquake in 1929 destroyed most of the city wall and in 1985 the gate lookout towers were repaired


House construction is mostly by hand with a rebar concrete frame filled in with bricks
